Good morning everyone. Sadly to say our poor little baby had to be hospitalized yesterday. Early morning Ethan was running an extremely high temperature so, we immediately called our pediatrician and instantly Ethan had to be hospitalized. With Ethan's condition and not being circumcised yet, unfortunately he caught another bad UTI. We think he caught the UTI from Monday, when he had an appointment with his pedictrician. He had to get a urine sample and they think that maybe bacteria got into his penis.
When Ethan was 2 months old he was hospitalized for a UTI, and they knew what kind of UTI infection it was. This time, there is a bacteria "yeast" that he may have picked up along with his UTI. If Ethan picked up this type of infection we are looking at two weeks in the hospital.
As many of you know, Ethan has his first surgery at Riley next Friday to get circumcised and bringing down his testicles. This is very hard for us because it seems like way too much for Ethan.
The worst part is that they can not find a vein to put his IV in. We had a bad experience with an ER nurse yesterday that decided to stick him many many times and unfortunately damaged anywhere to put the IV. They say it is very hard because Ethan had allot of chunky to him. He is a big boy!
With that said, it is 7 am on Thursday morning and they sent the best nurse to try the IV again and she was unable to get a vein. This is very upsetting, because now since Ethan isn't getting his IV to flush the medicine "this works very fast and benefits him" they have been sticking him with 4 shots over and over to get the medicine in his system. Also, they MAYBE by today might have to cut him to get a vein to put the IV in. This method usually is the LAST resort if they cannot find a "good" vein.
This is just so horrible for our little guy. He was doing so well and was well rested/prepared for his surgery next week.
We will not know how intense this infection is until late tonight or tomorrow. We are not sure about them making an incision "cut" to find a vein either. We are waiting until this afternoon to get a team together to find another road to take for the IV.
We are trying to stay positive and take it all one day at a time. Our Ethan is so strong. Please everyone start a prayer chain. God is good and he will take care of Ethan in the best way possible.
We have not had a chance to make many phone calls. Please know that Nathan or I will call or update our blog on Ethan. Pray Pray Pray.
p.s. Ethan is amazing!!!!!!
