Ethan is still in the hospital but is doing a little better. The urine culture came back positive for a fungal UTI. Ethan's doctor contacted an Infectious Disease specialist from Riley and agreed that the medication that Ethan is on will clear up the infection, so hopefully no trip to Indy until next week. They tried to re-catheterize Ethan last night and this morning for a urine sample but were unsuccessful. They did however get enough urine for another urine culture, so we must remain in the hospital until we get the results back from that culture. Ethan's blood test came back good and his kidneys were not affected by the infection. Ethan's Urologist from Riley has also been contacted and has agreed with the medication that he is on and said the surgery is still a go. Ethan's catheter can stay out unless his temperature goes back up but so far, so good. So we will just be at the hospital until further notice. Very busy day so we will keep you posted......
We do not know exactly what will happen if the culture sample comes back positive again, it will be up to all 3 docotrs ( Peditrician, Urologist, and Infectious Disease Specialist).
