Ethan's surgery is scheduled for Friday, February 13th at 7am. Nathan, Ethan and I are leaving Thursday afternoon for Indianapolis. My mother and sister will be traveling that way also to meet us there. Nathan's family will meet us at Riley Hospital on Friday. So we will have alot of family to help us with Ethan. We are staying strong for Ethan and know that god will take care of him during surgery. This is a very hard time for me, but I know that this surgery has to be done to prevent further infections. Ethan's urologist did say that this procedure is done daily , and should go very well.
Why Does Ethan Have to Have Surgery?
1. Circumcision :
When Ethan was born he went immediately to the NICU to be examined. Given Ethan's condition in my stomach, he had swollen kidney's "hydronephrosis". Instead of being circumcised at birth, it was more important for Ethan's team of doctor's to put a catheter into his penis to drain the urine out of his bladder to release pressure. If a baby is not circumcised at birth the earliest they can perform this procedure is at 6 months.
2. Bringing down the testicles:
When Ethan was born his testicles did not drop. The reason why Ethan's testicle's did not drop is because he had an extremely weak muscle wall in his stomach that could not push them down when developing in mommy's tummy.
While Ethan was in the NICU, urologists decided that Ethan could get both of these procedures done at one time when he turned 6 months.
We will defiantly keep everyone updated about Ethan's surgery as soon as we can. We are not sure how long we will have to stay, but either way we will contact everyone somehow. Hopefully by our blog.
Keep Ethan in your Prayers!
Thank you all for your support with Ethan during his hospital stay and his surgery. We feel blessed and are very thankful for you all. Thank You.
ETHAN IS A FIGHTER! SO STRONG!
