Surgery Update and Happy Birthday to Daddy! Revised Post with Pictures

When we arrived to our hotel the night before Ethan's surgery, we were greeted by family. Uncle Wobby (Robert) and Kari surprised us with a visit. They really made the night before go smoothly for Ethan. They came to spoil Ethan with Love, Play, and a gift. We were so thankful to see them, we sure do miss them. I know Ethan had a smile the entire time. We had heavy traffic on the way there, and Ethan wasn't having the ride, so to get there and see Ethan happy was awesome.

The morning before surgery Ethan was very tired, since he did not sleep well at the hotel. He was very upset that he could not have drinks or food, so we along with the wonderful staff of Riley tried to take his mind off of everything. The entire wait of surgery took and extra hour then expected so, it was a rough morning....

This picture was Ethan right before they took him back to surgery, minutes before they gave him the happy medicine. All morning he was such a trooper. He gave us many kisses before they took him back. Surgery went smoothly, and we are so thankful.

When we arrived home, late yesterday, my parents surprised Nathan with a Dairy Queen Birthday Cake. Ethan wasn't feeling the best, so after he helped blow out Daddy's candles and took a couple bits of cake, he went straight to bed. I was happy that Nathan enjoyed his cake:)

Ethan is at home resting after his short but one of the most important procedures to date.  Ethan had his stint removed that was put in place during his last surgery.  Ethan's urologist said that the procedure went great and everything looks good but we will not be able to tell how successful  his last surgery was  until we have his renal exam in a month.  So in the mean time we have to keep a close eye on the little man and play the waiting game. Today the also had to do a bladder infusion with medicine, that went well.  Thanks for all the prayers, emails, messages, texts and phone calls.

Believe it or not, when we arrived back home late today Ethan began to play. He does show signs of discomfort and of course being tired. Poor baby had to wait an extra hour than expected this morning for surgery. So, an extra hour to not eat and waiting in a small strange room for surgery was very hard on him. He still did a great job, such a trooper he is.

Happy Birthday to Daddy today, he is the best daddy we could ever ask for and we love him more than anything in this world!

I am so glad to hear everything went ok. I remember it took a month or so to get the results and it was the worst month of my life because I did not want to do the reflux surgery again if was not successful. But ours doctors said the refux surgery has a 95% success rate. Which is huge! So that should be comforting. Give E a hug for us!!!
