Picture Post!!!

We had a great day today with Ethan (update below), he was allowed to start his diet whooo hooo. He also felt good enough to get around a little bit and by late tonight started to get up and walk around some. It amazes us how fast kids recover! Just a couple days ago I was so sad becuase I thought we would never get to see our Ethan back to being Ethan, well he proved me wrong...little did I know days later he would be ETHAN again. He is still needing to do a couple of things before we get to go home, but is so strong and has made it so far, we just know home is a couple days away!!! The only hard thing we are dealing with now, is that Ethan is so tired and worn out from nurses/doctors that he flips OUT when they come near him.
Anywho, I have to get back to watching my sweet angel sleep...so here are some pictures
OF US ON SURGERY DAY.... I wanted to post!! We looked so tired and nervous in these pictures...so happy it is over with...

(THANK YOU MONICA FOR OUR AWESOME SHIRTS YOU MADE, THEY WERE SO SPECIAL)

Here Are Some Pictures From Today................

As Soon As We Saw Ethan making his signature silly face to Uncle Robert we kind of knew he was feeling BETTER... like back to being his silly ol' self. Never knew how Happy we would be to see the littlest things happen again with Ethan....

Ethan was soooo happy to see these two.....

Ethan was very popular today with all of these surprise visits!!

Life is Good whe you get to EAT food !!!

So Many People LOVE Ethan....THANK YOU!!!

Got Food?

We are happy to tell everyone that the doctors have given Ethan his diet back with minimal restrictions.  He is able to drink  water and juice and also eat soft solids like yogurt and applesauce.  Ethan is doing fine with all of the above and by the end of the night he should be eating soft solid foods, such as, crackers, jello, mashed potatoes (his favorite), etc.  He is feeling a little better today as we keep moving him around but still has spasms that are pretty painful.  Pray as we keep  heading in the right direction......

Around Here

THINGS

ARE
STARTING

TO

GO IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION AROUND HERE!!!!!!

Better Days.....

I am happy to tell everyone that Ethan had his NG tube removed today, along with the two tubes that were draining fluids from his abdomen.  Since last night Ethan has also been pulled off oxygen and his intestines have started to wake up, slowly but surely.  We know that his intestines have started to wake up because he has had some nasty diapers, and when I say nasty, I mean blow-out, make daddy gag, nasty!!!

So with Ethan having less and less tubes everyday, what is next, right?  Ethan still is on IV fluids for now but hopefully we get to slowly reinduce his diet to him starting tomorrow, because this boy is thirsty, and all he wants is wa-wa (water) and uicc (juice).  The worst part of all of this is not giving bubby what we wants when we wants it (but no he is not spoiled), especially when we gives you the puppy dog face (it hurts, I know).

Ethan also still has a cathater in and this is probably the most important tube that he has, I will explain why.  The catheter is draining all of the fluids from his bladder so that they do not sit in his bladder for long periods if time, to keep him from getting an infection.  The will probably consider taking the cathater out on sunday, pray, but we will see.  And here comes the most important part, when they take the cathater out Ethan needs to viod on his own a couple of times before they release him, pray.  Now the tricky part is getting Ethan to void because his body tends to hold his urine after the cathater is removed and if this happens his abdomen will start to swell causing emense pain since his bladder was worked on as well.  If this happens that cathater will go back in for another week, yes I said week, we will be here another week.  As we all pray this week, lets pray for Ethan's body to return to normal after the cathater has been removed.

On the lighter side, Ethan has been up for most the day, started talking a little bit and even had a wagon ride today.  Mommy said  that there will be a picture post later today............

Wakey, Wakey

Today has been a rough and tiring day for myself, especially Lisa, Nan and Grammie.  Ethan has been one heck of a tropper today as we have tried to overcome a few obstacles that have gotten in the way of a speedy recovery.

First off, Ethan now has to have breathing treatments and chest CP's every four hours, this is where some big burly RT comes in and pounds on Ethan's chest, literally.  Both the treatments and the pounding are to keep the fluids from setttling into Ethan's lungs and turning into pneumonia.  Pray.

Secondly, the poor little guy had to have a suction tube inserted down his throat to suction out all of the bile that is sitting in his stomach because his intestines are not "awake" yet.  This keeps him from throwing up all the time as he did today, so far so good.  Pray.

While the above two issues are very alarming, they are very common with this type of surgery the doctors tell us.

Ethan has been up and alert for most of that day, which is a very good sign that we are heading in the right direction on the road to recovery, just a little slower than anticipated......
