Great News from Today!

Today we visited Riley again, for yet another renal exam.  This time we come back with good news, Ethan does NOT need surgery at this time, if ever.  Ethan's urologist, Dr. Kaefer, who you will see holding Ethan below, said the results of the surgery and the neph tube were better than expected, he looked GREAT!  After reviewing the renal exam, Ethan's left ureter is even starting to straighten out on its own.  So, as long as Ethan remains UTI free and no constipation issues (because constipation puts pressure on the bladder), Ethan should be able to allow his body to correct the "squirley" ureter on his own.   This is the best news we have had in months. What a blessing!

We stayed around Riley for over four hours today to wait on Ethan's urologist to have a break in his schedule and review the test results with us.  After the doctor talked to us, he checked the urine culture results and unfortunately Ethan's results came back positive for a bacterial infection.  So Ethan's urologist said the neph tube has to remain in until the infection is gone, hopefully next  week.  It is easier for someone to get a UTI if they have frequent catheters, which Ethan has had lately.  We will get another test next week locally after a heavy dose of medication and if it is negative, then back down to Riley next week to get the tube out at last.

Here is Ethan with his Amazing urologist Dr. Kaefer...... Dr. Kaefer is  Ethan's Angel! We feel so blessed to have him treat and care for our son. Ethan was extremely tired in this picture, long day!

We are looking forward to this weekend, celebrating Ethan's 2nd Birthday and the great news. We are so thankful and oh sooo happy.

THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND PRAYERS.. They mean so much to us. God is good!
